UV Pipe Relining
Tunnel Vision successfully completed a UV-cured pipe relining project for the Shire of Murray at Sutton Street, Pinjarra WA, rehabilitating a deteriorated 300mm reinforced concrete stormwater drainage main.
The 20-metre stormwater line had been heavily impacted by severe root intrusion, with extensive root masses penetrating pipe joints and compromising structural integrity. Traditional replacement methods would have required road opening, reinstatement works and significant disruption to the surrounding area.
Using advanced UV-cured CIPP (Cured-In-Place Pipe) technology, Tunnel Vision rehabilitated the pipeline entirely trenchlessly; eliminating excavation, minimising disruption and restoring the asset to full operational condition with a 25-year product warranty and 100-year design life.
The project was completed efficiently on 8 April 2026 with full post-installation CCTV verification confirming a smooth, continuous and fully sealed liner throughout the entire pipe run.
Pre-Installation Condition Assessment
Prior to rehabilitation works, CCTV inspection of the existing reinforced concrete stormwater main identified severe root intrusion throughout the pipeline.
Root masses had penetrated through multiple pipe joints, restricting flow and significantly compromising the structural condition of the asset. Immediate rehabilitation was required to prevent further deterioration and avoid potential asset failure.
UV Relining Installation
Tunnel Vision mobilised specialist UV relining equipment to the Sutton Street site and established safe working zones in accordance with site safety requirements.
Following high-pressure jet cleaning and robotic cutting to remove root intrusion and prepare the host pipe, temporary installation platforms were positioned for the UV liner insertion process.
The 20m x 300mm UV-cured liner was then installed through the existing pipe and cured in-situ using a UV light train. The trenchless installation method allowed the entire rehabilitation to be completed without excavation, road closures or reinstatement works.
All debris and materials were removed from site following completion
Post-Installation CCTV Verification
A full CCTV inspection was conducted following installation to verify liner continuity, structural integrity and sealing performance.
The inspection confirmed:
- Smooth and continuous liner installation throughout the full 20m run
- Complete elimination of root ingress
- Full restoration of pipe flow capacity
- Structurally rehabilitated stormwater asset ready for long-term service
The completed liner system provides the Shire of Murray with a durable, long-term rehabilitation solution backed by a 25-year product warranty and 100-year design life.
